Chapter 12

Her heart was beating fast as she descended the stairs. Her palms became so sweaty, she felt like she was going to faint.

'Is this how it feels to give yourself to someone else? To take someone else's surname for the rest of your life? How do people do it? I'm going to be someone's wife in a few hours, am I even ready for that? I feel like I'm going to pass out any minute now, literally. Maybe I should just say that I'm not ready!' These were the thoughts racing through her mind, questions after questions, her mind was in total chaos.

She stood at the entrance of the marriage hall flanked by Kavya and Dhriti on either side of her. Siya and Vanika were standing behind them, followed by a few cousins and friends of Taani. Just as the door opened a booming sound of a song came through. She loved this song and wanted her entry on this one specifically. It was a song by Kailash Kher called 'Piya ghar avenge.'

Yuvraj was standing in front of the mandap waiting for his Taani to arrive. His heartbeats were erratic, a song started to play on the speakers but it felt like the world stopped, he heard no sound, saw no one else but his beautiful bride who was now standing at the entrance.

'The wait was so worth it. How can a person be so beautiful? Now that I think about it, she must have a lot of suitors... Will she really have my last name by the end of tonight? Oh wait! Why did she conceal the hickies? God! She looks so mesmerizing though, like a fairy walking on earth for the very first time.' His mind was filled with these random thoughts as he continued to look at his bride. 'Why is she looking down though? Look up!' He thought and as if summoned by some kind of a spell she looked up and made eye contact with him.

Her heart stopped for a second. The hooting and cheering which was all she could hear since she made her entrance seemed to stop. Nothing else mattered other than Yuvraj, who had a small smile on his face and it looked like his friends were teasing him, bumping their shoulders with him but his eyes did not avert from hers for even a second. This made her blush and look down once again with a smile on her face.

Yuvraj seemed to snap back to reality as she broke their eye contact and looked down once again with a beautiful blush on her cheeks. It was then that he realised just how loud the cheering was, how Rishi and his friends have been teasing him, all of which fell on deaf ears.

She walked half of the way, then her father came to accompany her alone the rest of the way. He wanted to be the one to give his daughter away. They walked together until they stood in front of Yuvraj who immediately bent to touch Ranveer's feet. He gave his blessings by patting his head and said in a very low tone. "Humesha khush raho." (𝑨𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒚 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚.) It was as if his throat had lost its voice.

"Gurur hai humara humari beti, ise kabhi todna mat. Bohot naazon se bada kiya hai humne ise, aasha karte hain ki aap bhi ise apni aankhon ka tara bana ke rakhenge. Aapke hawale kar rahe hain beta aaj hum ise, iski vidaai ke baad ek bhi aansu nahi aana chahiye iski aankhon se." (𝑴𝒚 𝒅𝒂𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒔 𝒎𝒚 𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒆, 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒌 𝒊𝒕. 𝑾𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒃𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒖𝒑 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒂 𝒍𝒐𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆, 𝑰 𝒉𝒐𝒑𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒍𝒔𝒐 𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒆𝒚𝒆. 𝑻𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝑰'𝒎 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒎𝒚 𝒅𝒂𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅𝒏'𝒕 𝒔𝒉𝒆𝒅 𝒂 𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒇𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒍.) Taani lowered her face as tears started to fall from her eyes. Yuvraj gently took hold of her chin and wiped her tears.

He could understand Ranveer's pain. No father wished for his own daughter's unhappiness. "Aaj se inke saare dukh mere aur meri saari khushiyan inki. Sirf aankh ka tara nahi inhe sir ka taaj bana ke rakhenge hum. Wada karte hain aapse papa, aaj ke baad agar inki aankhon mai kabhi bhi aansu aaye to wo sirf khushi ke honge." (𝑭𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝒐𝒏𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒔 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒐𝒘𝒔 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒎𝒚 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔. 𝑵𝒐𝒕 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒚 𝒆𝒚𝒆 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝑰'𝒍𝒍 𝒌𝒆𝒆𝒑 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒓𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒚 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒅. 𝑰 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝑫𝒂𝒅, 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚, 𝒊𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒆𝒚𝒆𝒔, 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒃𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔.) Ranveer wrapped him in a tight hug as tears started to fall from his eyes. Yuvi gently patted his back and said some soothing words to calm him down.

The couple was then told to take their seat on the floor where cushions were placed for them, so that the priest could start with all the chants and hymns. Everyone sat down and the rituals began, Taani's hand was trembling as she placed it above Yuvi's so he gave it a gentle squeeze to comfort her.

She looked at him sideways and gave a slight smile before focusing back on the ritual. After sitting there for almost half an hour, she felt much more relaxed, a sense of calmness settling inside her. Yuvraj guided her through everything as the priest asked them to.

It was when the priest was chanting a long series of chants and hymns, Yuvraj nudged Taani who leaned a bit closer to hear what he was saying. "You concealed the hickies..." He muttered with a pout looking longingly at her neck, like he wanted to recreate his art yet again.

"You did as well." She replied glancing pointedly at his neck before turning to look at the holy fire once again.

"Well, the situation demanded so. But no issues I'll give you some new ones tonight!" He said smirking at her, loving the way her face became red, even the truck load of makeup couldn't hide her blushing cheeks from him.

"Tum mere aas paas bhi aaye na aaj to mai tumhare haath tod dungi!" (𝑰 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒌 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒔, 𝒊𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚.) She said while extending her hand towards the priest so that he could put the rice and flowers in it. He then asked Yuvraj to keep his hands above hers but he was too busy looking wide eyed at his wife, wondering if she was being serious.

"Yajman apna haath aage badaye." (𝑷𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅.) The priest repeated once again. He still didn't respond or act in any way, instead he turned more towards Taani, whose eyes widened at his actions, they were sitting at the mandap for god's sake!

"Are you being serious right now?" Taani slightly looked up and saw how everyone was trying to hide their laugh and some were outright laughing as well, mostly their friends and colleagues. She turned to glare furiously at Yuvi.

"Yuvi kya kar rahe ho, puja pe dhyan do abhi!" (𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒅𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒀𝒖𝒗𝒊, 𝒇𝒐𝒄𝒖𝒔 𝒐𝒏 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒈!) She whispered furiously trying to tug his hand forward but he clutched hers with both of his instead and repeated yet again.

"Pehle tum jawab do!" (𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒏𝒔𝒘𝒆𝒓 𝒎𝒆 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕!) He sounded so desperate that even Taani felt like she was going to burst out laughing at any moment now. She tried to pry her hand out of his grip but he stubbornly held on to it.

She leaned a bit closer to him and said. "Tumne abhi puja pe dhyan nahi diya na, to aaj kya mai tumhe pure hafte apne paas nahi aane dungi!" (𝑰𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒅𝒊𝒅 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒄𝒖𝒔 𝒐𝒏 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒘, 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑰 𝒘𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒍𝒆𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒐𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒎𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒂 𝒘𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒆 𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒌!) Yuvi's eyes widened comically at her threat and he hurriedly kept his hand on hers, asking the priest to finish his chants.

By now everyone was laughing at them, clearly seeing the way Taani made him listen to the priest and him sitting there with a pout on his face.

"But it's our first night!" He whispered, looking at her with a pout.

Taani rolled her eyes at his theatrics. "And it will be your last as well Yuvi, I'm warning you just shut up right now!"

Someone coughed from behind them and Taani turned slightly to look at Kavya and Rishi sitting there with barely contained smiles, clearly being aware of their whole argument. Taani turned back around and lowered her head in embarrassment, she could even feel her ears warming up. 'Yuvraj Singhania! Tum to ruko bas ab mai tumhe batati hu!' (𝒀𝒖𝒗𝒓𝒂𝒋 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒂, 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒊𝒕, 𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝑰'𝒍𝒍 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒚𝒐𝒖.)

"Abhi puja pe dhyan de lijiye bhaiya bhabhi, baaki baatein to room pe jaake ho hi jaengi." (𝑭𝒐𝒄𝒖𝒔 𝒐𝒏 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒃𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓-𝒊𝒏-𝒍𝒂𝒘, 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒅𝒐 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒓𝒐𝒐𝒎.) Rishi whispered leaning closer to them.

Taani lowered her head even more, her cheeks heating up. Yuvraj didn't like that Rishi made Taani feel embarrassed and gave him an annoyed look. He was in no mood to hear his teasing right now, he had other matters to be concerned about.

"Tu to chup hi ho ja, wese bhi konsa tu puja pe dhyan de raha hai, Kavya se dhyan hatega to kisi aur pe dhyan dega na. Bol to mere baad tera bhi intzaam karwa du isi mandap pe." (𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒔𝒉𝒖𝒕 𝒖𝒑, 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒄𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒏 𝒊𝒕. 𝑨𝒏𝒚𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒅𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝑲𝒂𝒗𝒚𝒂, 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒇𝒐𝒄𝒖𝒔 𝒐𝒏 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒆𝒍𝒔𝒆 𝒏𝒐? 𝑰𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕, 𝑰 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒍𝒔𝒐 𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒑𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒐𝒏.) Yuvraj replied teasing him right back. Kavya's eyes widened as she heard her brother-in-law's words and shifted slightly away from Rishi. Taani lowered her veil as she burst into a fit of giggles.

Rishi's ears turned crimson as he looked sideways at the wide eyed look of Kavya, then he turned to glare at his brother instead but remained quiet as everyone was looking at them now.

"Ab aap dono saat phere ke liye khade ho jayein." (𝑵𝒐𝒘 𝒃𝒐𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒑𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒔𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒔 𝒂𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒚 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒆.) Said the priest.

Yuvraj stood up first before bending down to help Taani with her lehenga. Taani felt a little light headed as she stood up and held on to Yuvi's hand tightly for a moment as black spots appeared in front of her eyes.

Yuvraj looked at her in slight concern as she clutched his hand in a tight grip. "Tum theek to ho?" (𝑨𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒍𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕?) He asked in a low voice. After taking some time to stable herself she nodded her head and motioned him to walk ahead of her.

Yuvraj took hold of her hand and began walking around the holy fire. Taani silently followed him, agreeing with the vows made after each round. After every round it was turning out to be even more difficult for her to walk, her pace slowed down, she was feeling even more dizzy now.

After four rounds it was her turn to lead for the last three rounds, as she tried walking ahead of him she felt her vision turn a bit blurry and in the blink of an eye, she blacked out.

Yuvraj stepped aside to make way for her but as she tried to get past him, she stumbled on her own feet. Yuvi instantly went to support her but the very next moment he found her passed out in his arms.

"Taani!" He yelled catching her falling body in time or else she would have fallen right on top of the fire. He gently laid her head on his lap, patting her cheek wishing for her to wake up. Both of their families began to panic, her name could be heard all around the room. Kavya ran towards her, shouting her name in panic, tears running out of her eyes.

"Koi paani laake do!" (𝑺𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒎𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓!) Yuvraj yelled, not taking his eyes away from her for even a second. He had never felt so scared in his entire life. Someone passed him a glass of water and he sprinkled some on her face.

Taani's eyebrows scrunched in distress as she felt something cold dripping on her face. She tried to blink her eyes and it took her a while to be able to open them. When she finally did, a group of people and her whole family surrounded her, all looking at her in worry but none more than the one who held her.

Yuvi's eyes had unshed tears in them, desperation leaking out in waves out of him. His eyes widened when he saw that she had opened her eyes. He closed his eyes in relief and took a deep breath, trying to will his heart to calm back down.

He hugged her tight to himself and kissed her forehead, not caring about anyone else but his wife. She caressed his back letting him know that she was in fact fine.

"Tum theek ho?" (𝑨𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒍𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕?) He asked and she nodded her head very slowly, not having the energy to do anything more.

Siya and Ranveer too ran towards them but Avi asked everyone to step back and not to crowd her, he too was concerned about his sister but instead of panicking he called forward Dr. Sinha who was attending the wedding as well.

Dr. Sinha checked her pulse and body temperature and diagnosed that she was just dehydrated and very weak as she might not have eaten properly. That's why her body took the toll and she passed out.

"Tumko time pe khana yaad nahi rehta hai kya? Abhi kuch ho jata to?" (𝑫𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒐 𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆? 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒇 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖?) Yuvi asked making her drink some water sip by sip. He tried to hold on to his anger rather than his fear as he didn't want to experience what he just did ever again. Taani just gave him a small smile.

"I'm absolutely fine now Yuvi. We should complete the wedding rituals." She said and tried to get up but he held on to her, refusing to let her go.

"Nahi! Pehle tum kuch khaogi uske baad ye sab hota rahega." (𝑵𝒐 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒍𝒍 𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈, 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒖𝒆.)

Everybody's eyes widened, it's not considered auspicious to leave the chants in the middle. All hell broke loose, everyone came up with their own debate of why they should complete the wedding first.

"Yuvraj just complete the wedding rituals first, it's not auspicious to leave it in the middle." Said his mother, Divya.

Yuvraj opened his mouth to refuse yet again but Taani placed her hand on top of his. And just like that she had all his attention. "I'm feeling much better now and can complete the last three rounds as well Yuvi, don't worry." Yuvraj looked at her for some time then nodded his head.

"Okay if that's what you want. Pandit ji mantra padhna shuru kijiye." (𝑷𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈.) Everyone stepped back from the pavilion to let them continue with the rituals.

But before she could even try to get up, Yuvraj placed one of his hands around her waist and the other behind her knees and picked her up in bridal style. Taani's eyes widened as she locked her hands around his neck to balance herself.

"Yuvi what are you doing? Put me down, everyone's watching!" She furiously whispered while slapping on his shoulder, urging him to let her down.

He looked down at her wide eyes and narrowed his own. "Are you marrying everyone else? No right? Then keep your eyes on me!" And he started to walk around the fire while the priest continued his chantings. Everyone was mesmerized by them. They were astonished to see the groom so concerned for the bride but only the bride herself knew the reality of it all.

Taani couldn't keep her eyes away from his, as if stuck in some trance. She fell in love with it all, the determination in his eyes, his hard jaw, his strong arms that were carrying her like she was a ball of fur even while wearing such a heavy lehenga and how he would look down at her once in a while to make sure she was doing alright and give her a smile of reassurance.

She gave him a smile full of melancholy. 'Agar bina pyar kare hi tum meri itni fikr kar rahe ho to pyar mai tum kis hadd tak chale jaoge Yuvraj Singhania? Shayad meri kismat mai pyar hai hi nahi, par kabhi hua to mai tumhare jesa hi chahungi.' (𝑰𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒎𝒆 𝒔𝒐 𝒎𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒆, 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒇𝒂𝒓 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒈𝒐 𝒊𝒏 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆, 𝒀𝒖𝒗𝒓𝒂𝒋 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒂? "Maine kaha tha na ye dono ek dusre ke liye bilkul theek rahenge." (𝑰 𝒕𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒆 𝒕𝒘𝒐 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒃𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒇𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓.) Meenal said giving a gentle pat on Sumitra's hand, who was sitting right beside her. Sumitra silently nodded her head, wiping the tears from her eyes.

"Ab mujhe pura yakeen ho gaya ki Yuvraj meri Taani ka humesha khayal rakhega." (𝑵𝒐𝒘 𝑰 𝒂𝒎 𝒂𝒃𝒔𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒀𝒖𝒗𝒓𝒂𝒋 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒚 𝑻𝒂𝒂𝒏𝒊.) She replied as they saw Yuvraj walking around the holy fire with Taani in his arms.

They completed the rounds and took the vows as well. Then Yuvraj gently lowered her down on the cushion, making sure that she was alright before sitting beside her once again.

He was then told to tie the nuptial thread around the bride's neck and afterwards fill the vermillion on her forehead. Both their heartbeats raised as he extended his hand to fill the vermillion on her forehead. They both knew that this was it, love or not, after this they will be considered a married couple, bound to each other till their last breath.

His hand shook and he had to take a deep breath to calm himself down. Just as he lowered his hand on her forehead, she closed her eyes, a lone tear escaping from it.

All around them people gave a loud cheer, clapping their hands, hugging each other to celebrate their union.

Taani opened her eyes as he wiped her tears. He was mesmerized by her, entranced by her all over again. The vermillion on her forehead made her look hundred times more beautiful than she already was. Some of it fell on her nose as well and he extended his hand to wipe it off when Taani took hold of it, stopping him from doing so.

He looked at her in confusion. "Kehte hain naak pe sindoor girne ka matlab hai ki pati bohot pyar karne wala mila hai." (𝑰𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒇 𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒇𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒔 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒐𝒔𝒆, 𝒊𝒕 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝒂 𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒉𝒖𝒔𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒅.)

He raised his eyebrows in surprise, and hesitantly pulled his hand back. A wave of possessiveness passed his chest.

'Mine!' He roared in his mind.
