Chapter 5

Taani woke up the next day with puffy eyes and a severe headache. She couldn't sleep properly at all throughout the night and her tears won't stop no matter what she did. She got ready and went downstairs to have breakfast. Although she didn't really want to, she knew that her family would come looking for her if she didn't.

She saw that her grandma was not there and asked about her whereabouts. "Amma is still very weak so we sent her breakfast in her room, she's not able to walk much right now." Avi informed her as he silently filled a plate full of food for his sister. "You don't worry at all Taani, I won't let it happen, do you trust me?" He asked while caressing her head lovingly. Taani had no more tears to shed and no more energy to argue or to avoid the inevitable.

"I'll talk to her after breakfast." Taani said instead, effectively ending the discussion for everyone. Siya and Ranveer looked at her in concern. They couldn't bear to see her like this but didn't know what to do either. Everyone else had their breakfast silently, the whole environment felt upsetting. Taani got up after eating a little bit, said her goodbyes and made her way towards her grandma's room.

She entered her room without making any noise and saw that her grandma was sleeping. Now that she saw her in broad daylight, her grandma looked so pale and fragile, almost breakable. She heaved a sigh and took a seat in front of her near the bed and waited for her to wake up, while scrolling aimlessly through her phone to pass the time. "Taani?" Taani got startled as she heard her grandma's voice. She was so lost in her own thoughts that she didn't even realise her grandma was awake and was monitoring her for the past 5 minutes.

"Amma! Aapki tabiyat kaisi hai ab? Aapko kuch chahiye?" (𝑮𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒎𝒂! 𝑯𝒐𝒘'𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒏𝒐𝒘? 𝑫𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈?) Taani filled the glass with water and helped her grandma drink it.

"Mai theek hu beta ab is umar mai to ye sab laga hi rehta hai." (𝑰'𝒎 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒆, 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒍 𝒊𝒏 𝒎𝒚 𝒂𝒈𝒆.) Sumitra knew that by now Ranveer had told everyone about the marriage proposal. She caressed Taani's cheeks adoringly and kissed her forehead. Taani couldn't do anything more than give her a small smile.

"Taani, meri bachchi, tum time leke decide karo tumhe kya karna hai. Meri chinta mat karo bilkul bhi. Mai khush rahungi tumhare har faisle se." (𝑻𝒂𝒂𝒏𝒊, 𝒎𝒚 𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒅, 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒐. 𝑫𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒚 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒎𝒆. 𝑰'𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏.) But Taani still couldn't forget her grandma's face when she had given her a huge smile as she had gotten the news, nor could she forget the horrible incident where she fainted. Taani gave her a helpless smile, she didn't want to become a cause of her illness and weakness.

She had to get married someday anyways and it's not like she was in love with another, so why create a fuss now and distress her family members especially her grandma? "Aapne pasand kiya hai na unhe humare liye to wo galat kese ho sakte hain? Hume rishta manzoor hai Amma." (𝒀𝒐𝒖'𝒗𝒆 𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒏 𝒉𝒊𝒎 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒎𝒆, 𝒔𝒐 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒆 𝒂 𝒘𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆? 𝑰 𝒂𝒄𝒄𝒆𝒑𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒂𝒍.) Sumitra's eyes widened in happiness, and she tried to sit up but Taani panicked and told her to lay down quietly and warned her not to make such sudden movements again.

"Sach mai? Ye tu apni marzi se bol rahi hai na? Kahi meri wajah se to nahi?" (𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚? 𝒀𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒐𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕? 𝑵𝒐𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒆?) Sumitra had to make sure her darling granddaughter was just as happy with it as she was. After all it was her who had to get married.

"Haan Amma, khush hu mai. Aakhir wese bhi kabhi na kabhi to hume shaadi karni hi hai na?" (𝒀𝒆𝒔 𝑮𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒎𝒂, 𝑰'𝒎 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚. 𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒅 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕?)

"Meri bachchi! Mai bohot khush hu tere liye. Yuvraj tumhara bohot achche se dhyan rakhega, aur mai janti hu Meenal aur Divya bhi tumhe kabhi ghar ki yaad nahi aane denge." (𝑴𝒚 𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒅! 𝑰'𝒎 𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖. 𝒀𝒖𝒗𝒓𝒂𝒋 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝑴𝒆𝒆𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑫𝒊𝒗𝒚𝒂 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒍𝒆𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒉𝒐𝒎𝒆.)

Taani chuckled at her grandma's enthusiasm and felt all the more reassured that she made the right decision. "Amma aap to ese baat kar rahe ho jese humari shaadi ho hi gayi hai." (𝑮𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒎𝒂 𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒔 𝒊𝒇 𝑰'𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚 𝒈𝒐𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒏 𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒅.)

"Wo bhi ho jaegi, aur mai itni dhoom dham se teri shaadi karungi ki pura khaandan dekhta reh jaega, akhir tu Sumitra Mittal ki poti hai, koi kami nahi rahegi teri shaadi mai." (𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒅𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒂𝒔 𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒍. 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝑰'𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒘 𝒔𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒂 𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒆𝒅𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒆𝒅, 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝑺𝒖𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒓𝒂 𝑴𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒂𝒍'𝒔 𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒅𝒂𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒆𝒓, 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒃𝒆 𝒏𝒐 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒇𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈.)

"Ji Amma, bas ab aap aaram karo, taiyaariyan hoti rahengi baad mai." (𝑶𝒌𝒂𝒚 𝑮𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒎𝒂, 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒘, 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒏.) Soon Sumitra was asleep once again, she couldn't stay awake for more than an hour even if she tried as she was taking high dosage of medicines.

Taani walked out of the room and made her way towards the drawing room where everyone was still seated, appearing to be in a deep discussion. Silence descended as they saw her coming.

"I am ready to get married to Yuvraj, papa." Ranveer's eyes widened in surprise and Avi stood up in rage.

"What did Amma say to you!?" Was what Avi asked her, instead of acknowledging what she just said.

"Nothing, she told me to think carefully about it and I have. I am ready." Siya started crying again as she heard her daughter's words. She already knew this was going to happen, she just knew her daughter too well.

"Then take some time Taani and think about it, there's nothing to hurry about." Rajveer said and Vanika nodded her head in agreement. Kavya too started crying now. "You can't get married now! I won't let it happen! I won't let you go and leave me all alone."

Taani walked up to her with a smile and hugged her. "You won't be alone, you'll still have me. And it's not like I'll be going too far, you can call and come to meet me whenever you want to." Kavya shook her head in denial saying it won't be the same.

"Come on, it is inevitable Kavu. Marriage has to happen someday right? I know you'll be here to take care of everyone." Although Kavya was three years younger than her, their bond had always been like they were twins. Always so close to each other, knowing each other's secrets and confiding in each other.

"Who is getting married?" Everyone turned to look at Sid who was walking in with a confused expression.

"Sid! What are you doing here?" Taani was happy and felt like crying at the same time, as she looked at her best friend.

"Just came to meet Amma." Sid came and touched the elder's feet, seeking their blessings. He even shook hands with Avi, wishing him "Good morning bhaiya." Avi nodded his head and wished him back a good morning.

"Amma is not doing too well, she fainted yesterday and is resting right now." Sid furrowed his eyebrows in concern.

"What? What happened?" Taani then relayed everything to him in detail, leaving out the part where Sumitra fixed her marriage to Yuvraj.

"Thank God she's alright now." Sid noticed how everyone still looked stressed. "So? Who's getting married?" He asked yet again.

"I am" Taani replied

"What!?" Needless to say Sid was absolutely shocked to hear that. He never acted or confirmed but everyone sort of knew that he had some feelings for Taani, except her highness herself. Even though he would joke around her all the time. "To whom?"

"Yuvraj Singhania" Taani knew she didn't have to say anything more, as they both met him just a few days ago. Sid hated that guy for how he behaved with Taani.

"The same one we-"

"Yes yes" Taani cut him off in between knowing that no one knew she had already met him and didn't like him all that much.

"Absolutely not!" Taani's eyes widened at the finality of his tone, she had never heard him talk to her like that, it really surprised her. On the other hand Avi wasn't surprised at all, he knew Sid had some feelings for Taani but Sid also wasn't a good choice for his little sister, no one was, not even the oh so great Yuvraj Singhania.

"Have you forgotten how he-" Sid tried speaking but was cut off by Taani yet again. "Amma is sleeping right now, come on I'll get someone to prepare us some tea, then we'll sit and chat." Taani literally dragged him from there, afraid he was going to open his mouth and tell everyone about Yuvraj.

After a while when they were sitting in the drawing room sipping their tea, Sid finally questioned her all about it. "What's going on Taani? You know how Yuvraj behaved with you, how could you agree to marry him so easily?"

"He is the son of Amma's close friend and it's her wish for me to marry him. Please understand Sid in her condition, I really can't say no, she's very weak right now. And she speaks very highly of him. So who knows maybe he'll treat me right after marriage..." Taani tried to reason with Sid just as much as she tried to convince herself that she made the right decision.

"You're making an important decision like this based on a 'maybe'?" His tone and anger surprised Taani yet again, never before had he lost his temper like this.

"I trust Amma and it's not like I have anyone else in my life." Taani replied nonchalantly.

Sid looked at her in disbelief 'How could a person be so damn oblivious?' he thought. "Don't have anyone in your life? Then what about me!?"

Taani's eyes widened in shock. "What...what about you?"

Sid looked at her with a heartbroken look. "How could you be so oblivious to my feelings for you?"

"What? Your feelings? For me? But that's not possible...you always flirt with other girls." Taani didn't know what else to say.

"Yeah, only to make you jealous!" Taani couldn't do anything but gape at him. This was news to her, she never even imagined herself with Sid in that way.

"Sid... I don't have that kind of feelings for you." She said very slowly as if trying to calm a rabid animal.

"And you have them for Yuvraj? Taani at least we have some chemistry, and I would never insult you like he did in front of others!" At this point Sid was desperate to put forward his point and make Taani understand that his feelings for her were indeed very genuine.

"Sid you didn't have to flirt with others to make me jealous, you know I hate all those kind of things. You could have just said that you had feelings for me, I'm not sure if it would have changed anything but at least we would have had time to work on it. Now it's too late, I'm marrying Yuvraj."

Sid's expression went blank as he heard her words. He knew there was no way to make her change her mind now, for her no one was more important than her grandma and if she said she had to marry Yuvraj, then she will. Period.

"Well then, congratulations to you." Sid got up to walk out of there, knowing if he stayed a minute more he wouldn't be above begging her on his knees to cancel this wedding.

"Sid! Sid, listen to me. Please don't be like this. Sid!" Taani kept on calling him, only for him to ignore her. He couldn't stay now, couldn't pretend to be just friends with her and he knew that's all she can offer now.

Singhania's residence :

"Maa, Siya called to say that Taani has agreed as well." Meenal who was sitting in the drawing room reading a newspaper stood up to do a happy dance around the whole room.

Yuvi who was heading to the office clenched his teeth in anger. 'So she couldn't say no to marrying a rich man huh? Of course that's how she is.' He bitterly thought and started to head outside.

"Yuvi, wait!" Meenal and Divya ran up to him to give him the news in person.

"We need to start the preparations now, but first we need to head to their home for Roka ceremony. Will you be free tomorrow morning?" Divya asked him and saw his anger that he tried to hide from his grandma. It worried her once again and forced her to think if this was indeed the right decision.

"Yeah, just tell me the exact time later." With that he walked out.

"Yeh ladka bhi na, ruk ke sahi se ek jawab bhi nahi deta hai. Aane do iski biwi ko ab wahi sudharegi ise." (𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒃𝒐𝒚 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔𝒏'𝒕 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒑 𝒕𝒐 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒂 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒓 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒍𝒚. 𝑳𝒆𝒕 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆, 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒌𝒆𝒆𝒑 𝒉𝒊𝒎 𝒊𝒏 𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒏𝒐𝒘.) Meenal said, then grabbed on to Divya's hand to drag her back towards the sofa so that they can finalize everything for tomorrow.

"Divya esa karo, Siya ko call karke kal ke liye bata do. Aur jitne bhi gifts and sweets mangwane hai aj hi mangwa lo sab." (𝑫𝒊𝒗𝒚𝒂, 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝑺𝒊𝒚𝒂 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒏𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒐𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒐𝒘 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒈𝒊𝒇𝒕𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒕𝒔 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒆𝒅, 𝒃𝒖𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎 𝒕𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝒊𝒕𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇.) Divya nodded and went to give a call to Siya who reaffirmed that tomorrow is fine for Roka, although in her mind everything was happening a bit too fast for her liking, she still didn't bother saying that to Divya.

"Maa, maine call kar diya hai and gifts lene mai abhi chali jati hu aur sweets ka order mai aj de dungi, to kal hum wahi se pick karte hue chale jaenge." (𝑴𝒂𝒂, 𝑰'𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒅 𝒉𝒆𝒓. 𝑰'𝒍𝒍 𝒈𝒐 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒃𝒖𝒚 𝒈𝒊𝒇𝒕𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒂𝒔 𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒔 𝑰'𝒍𝒍 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒕𝒔 𝒔𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒘𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒑𝒊𝒄𝒌 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎 𝒖𝒑 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝒕𝒐𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒐𝒘.) Meenal nodded and went to her room to make a list of all the other things.

Mittal's residence :

The next day.

Taani got ready for the Roka ceremony. She wore an off white colored beautiful anarkali suit and did minimal makeup to not look as lifeless as she felt.

Soon she heard that the Singhanias have arrived. She went out on her balcony to see five cars entering the driveway in a row. 'They sure know how to make an entrance.' She thought.

She waited to see the family. She saw two men getting out of the first car and immediately recognised the one wearing black kurta as Yuvraj. Her breath hitched looking at him in that black kurta and pajama, wearing sunglasses. He was very handsome indeed and knew it too.

He walked towards the next car to help Meenal out. And when he turned back towards the entrance he got a glimpse of someone's silhouette up on the balcony, he tried squinting his eyes to get a better look but the person immediately turned and ran inside.

They made their way inside with a row of servants carrying all the gifts and sweets for the bride's family. Mittal's family welcomed them warmly and both Meenal and Sumitra hugged each other with excitement and even shed some tears at finally becoming family to each other.

Yuvraj noticed how the whole family was concerned about Sumitra's health as well, advising both Meenal and Sumitra to relax, sit and chat. "Sumu, why do you look so weak?" Meenal asked with concern as she placed her hands on her cheeks. Sumitra gently patted her hand and told her not to worry about it. She had already told her family not to say anything about her health to Singhanias, especially to Meenal.

"Badhai ho Siya aur Ranveer bhaiya." (𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔, 𝑺𝒊𝒚𝒂 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒃𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝑹𝒂𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒆𝒓.) Divya respectfully said as she hugged Siya.

"Aapko bhi bohot bohot badhai Divya aur Aadesh." (𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒃𝒐𝒕𝒉 𝒂𝒔 𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒍, 𝑫𝒊𝒗𝒚𝒂 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑨𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒉.) Siya replied with a watery smile. Divya gave her a sympathetic smile and promised her that she would take care of Taani like her own daughter.

Yuvraj then came forward and touched everyone's feet, seeking blessings from them.

"Namaste Aunty." (𝑮𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒂𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒚.) Yuvraj said as he touched Sumitra's feet.

"Aunty nahi beta, ab jese hum Taani ki Amma hain wese tumhari bhi." (𝑫𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒚, 𝑰'𝒎 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒎𝒂 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒔 𝒎𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒂𝒔 𝑻𝒂𝒂𝒏𝒊'𝒔.) She sweetly said, patting his cheeks adoringly. "Ji Amma." (𝒀𝒆𝒔 𝑮𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒎𝒂.) He nodded with a smile and went on to touch Siya and Ranveer's feet, but Ranveer pulled him in a hug instead, firmly patting his back.

He shook Avi's hand and even gave him a hug but noticed how his smile looked stiff and fake. 'So someone's not happy with the wedding, I see.' Yuvi thought as he nodded his head to Dhriti and said hello to Kiara, who blushed and hid behind her mother. Yuvraj gave the first genuine smile of the day when he played with Kiki and even offered her a lot of chocolates to bribe her, so that she would come to him.

Something in Siya's chest loosened as she saw Yuvi playing with her granddaughter. 'Maybe he isn't such a bad choice for my Taani after all.' She thought.

Everyone then took a seat and started talking, awaiting the soon to be bride, who was making tea for everyone in the kitchen. Yuvi excused himself to use the washroom but on the way, he saw a girl standing inside the kitchen. He instantly recognised Taani and started walking that way instead.

'Kuch bhi kaho, hai to badi sundar...' (𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝑰 𝒎𝒂𝒚 𝒔𝒂𝒚, 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒇𝒖𝒍 𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒆𝒅.) He thought as he looked at her figure.

Taani loved singing songs and would usually hum all around the house but she was too shy to sing in front of anyone. She would sometimes randomly record herself singing when she was alone. While the water was warming up for the tea she waited a few minutes and put sugar and tea leaves in it and then started drumming her fingers on top of the container of sugar.

The anticipation of going out to visit the Singhania family was making her anxious and so she decided to sing to calm herself down. She adjusted the camera in front of her, closed her eyes and started to sing.

"Ehsaan tera hoga mujh par,

dil chahta hai use kehne do,

mujhe tumse mohabbat ho gayi hai,

mujhe palko ki chaaon mai rehne do.

Ehsaan tera hoga mujh par..."

She slowly opened her eyes and looked at the camera only to see that Yuvraj was standing right behind her with a smile, staring at her in slight surprise. "Hey bhagwaan!" (𝑶𝒉 𝑮𝒐𝒅!)  In her shock she left hold of the sugar container and it fell on the floor with a loud bang, scattering sugar everywhere around them.

"Kya hua Taani bitiya?" (𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝑻𝒂𝒂𝒏𝒊?) Asked Ramu Kaka from outside somewhere, as he and the others were busy setting up the plates of sweets and snacks for the guests. She panicked thinking he was going to come into the kitchen and see that Yuvraj was there with her. "Kuch nahi kaka bas shakkar ki barni gir gayi dhoke se. Aap chinta mat karo mai samet dungi." (𝑵𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒖𝒏𝒄𝒍𝒆, 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒖𝒈𝒂𝒓 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒅 𝒃𝒚 𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆. 𝑫𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒚 𝑰'𝒍𝒍 𝒄𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝒊𝒕 𝒖𝒑.)

She hurriedly went out and came back with a broom to clean it all up which surprised Yuvraj as he never imagined her doing all these chores herself. 'Maybe she's putting on an act for me, I'll see how long she can keep it up.' He thought and gave her a sarcastic smile. He was standing in the corner, still staring quite intensely at her. His stare was making her somewhat uncomfortable but she did not say anything because she was still very much shocked that he heard her sing.

"Aap bahar jaake aaram se baithein yahan kafi garmi ho rhi hai." (𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒈𝒐 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒊𝒕 𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆, 𝒊𝒕'𝒔 𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒉𝒐𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆.) She said while washing her hands once she had finished brooming the floor and saw that he was still there, silently observing her every move.

"Hum nahi jaante the aap itna acha ga leti hain." (𝑰 𝒅𝒊𝒅𝒏'𝒕 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒐 𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒍.) He said instead of listening to her. "Aap humare baare mai abhi jante hi kya hain?" (𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒎𝒆?) She replied while turning to switch off the stove and filter the tea.

"Koi baat nahi, ab jo aapne shaadi ke liye haan kar hi di hai to jaan hi jaenge, aapko bhi aur aapki aadaton ko bhi." (𝑵𝒐 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔, 𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒅, 𝑰'𝒍𝒍 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒉𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒕𝒔.) He said while giving her a slight smirk and went back in the drawing room to sit with others leaving her slightly confused.
