Chapter 4

Sumitra called Ranveer and Siya in her room, deciding on telling them about the marriage proposal. She hoped to make them agree as she wanted Taani to marry into a family like Singhania's. She knew Meenal would take good care of her granddaughter and would never let any harm come to her.

"Yes maa?" Ranveer said as he and Siya sat on the couch placed in front of the bed.

"I want to talk to you both about Taani's marriage." As soon as she finished speaking, Ranveer opened his mouth to object but she raised her hand signalling him to let her finish speaking first. "Tum dono jaante ho apni Taani ke liye hum kabhi bura nahi sochenge. Rishta achcha hai aur hum jaante hain Taani wahan bohot khush rahegi." (𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒃𝒐𝒕𝒉 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝑰'𝒍𝒍 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑻𝒂𝒂𝒏𝒊. 𝑩𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒂𝒍 𝒊𝒔 𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑻𝒂𝒂𝒏𝒊 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆.)

"Aap kiski baat kar rahi hain maa?" (𝑾𝒉𝒐 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓?) Siya asked wondering who was this person that made her mother-in-law so hurried to marry her darling granddaughter.

"Aadesh Singhania ke bade bete Yuvraj ki" (𝑬𝒍𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝑨𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒉 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒂, 𝒀𝒖𝒗𝒓𝒂𝒋.) Ranveer raised his eyebrows in recognition. Of course that's why they paid them a sudden visit a few days ago.

"Kya wo sab yahan pe isi iraade se aye the maa?" (𝑫𝒊𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓?) Ranveer asked his mother. Although he liked that family, he still didn't like the fact that they came here with such an intention and he knew nothing about it.

"Aadesh aur Divya ko bhi kuch nahi pata tha Ranveer. Ye to mera aur Meenal ka faisla hai ki hum apni dosti ko rishtedari mai badal dein. Aur kya kharabi hai us parivar mai?" (𝑨𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒉 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑫𝒊𝒗𝒚𝒂 𝒌𝒏𝒆𝒘 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒊𝒕 𝒆𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓. 𝑰𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑴𝒆𝒆𝒏𝒂𝒍'𝒔 𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒏 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑. 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕'𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒖𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒇𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔?) Siya felt like she's going to burst into tears any moment now. She was not ready to let go of her daughter yet, in all honesty though she knew she never would be but it still felt like everything was happening a bit too soon.

"Maa in maamlon mai hume jaldbaazi nahi karni chahiye. Aur kya Yuvraj khush hai is rishte se? Kya usne haan keh diya hai?" (𝑴𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓, 𝒘𝒆 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅𝒏'𝒕 𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒆. 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒔 𝒀𝒖𝒗𝒓𝒂𝒋 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒂𝒍? 𝑯𝒂𝒔 𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒊𝒕 𝒚𝒆𝒕?) Siya asked, appearing a bit too desperate to talk some sense into Sumitra, knowing if she decided to marry Taani there is nothing she would be able to do to stop it unless Taani herself said no. But she knew her darling daughter, if her grandma ever really asked her to marry Yuvraj she wouldn't say no it, doesn't matter if she wants to or not.

Ranveer hugged his wife knowing she was on the verge of a breakdown. Even Sumitra looked at her in pity, she never wished for things to turn out the way they had but they had to marry Taani someday and it will always be too soon for the parents. "Siya, meri bachchi, bharosa rakho humpe hum kabhi bhi jaldbaazi nahi karenge, Taani ki khushi mai hi humari khushi hai. Aur Yuvraj ka abhi koi jawab nahi aya hai, to chinta karne ki koi zarurat nahi hai. Hum bas saari baatein saaf saaf karna chahte the tum dono se." (𝑺𝒊𝒚𝒂, 𝒎𝒚 𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒅, 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒎𝒆 𝑰 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒚, 𝑻𝒂𝒂𝒏𝒊'𝒔 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔 𝒂𝒔 𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒍. 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒀𝒖𝒗𝒓𝒂𝒋 𝒉𝒂𝒔𝒏'𝒕 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒅 𝒚𝒆𝒕, 𝒔𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆'𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒚 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕. 𝑰 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒄𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒕𝒉 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖.)

Siya nodded her head, as she wiped her tears and composed herself once again. Ranveer couldn't get any words out as he knew he would start crying as well so he also just nodded his head and said "We will talk to Taani when we get a reply from Singhanias, till then no one will mention a word of it to her. And maa, if she says no then no one would force her to do otherwise."

"Of course" His mother said and gestured for them to go on and continue with their day.

Singhania's residence :

A few days later. In their drawing room.

Meenal hadn't been properly talking to Yuvi since the matter of his marriage came up. She wanted him to choose Taani by his own wish. But it's been a few days and he still hasn't replied. So she decided to approach the matter once again. "Have you thought about it?" Meenal asked Yuvi as a servant poured some tea for both of them.

"Not again Dadi!" Yuvi swiftly tried to close the topic because he had in fact given it a thought and now he was more confused than ever. 'Why did I meet that girl? It's all because of her.' He bitterly thought.

"Is there someone else in your life?" Meenal persisted. She wanted him to give her an answer, one which was in her favour.

"Of course not dadi, I'd have told you already." He rolled his eyes at the absurdness of it all. Like he wouldn't have told them if he did in fact had someone in his life. "I am just not ready to marry right now that's all. Why do you insist on getting me married if it's something I don't want?" He almost shouted at his grandma in his frustration and instantly regretted it as well, as he saw the look of disappointment on his grandma's face.

"I just wish you cared a bit more about me that's all. I told you I have already given my words to Sumitra, are you going to make me break my promise to my friend like that? Don't you care about me at all?" Meenal was genuinely upset about Yuvi's decision and even felt like crying at the possibility that he wouldn't change his mind about Taani.

Yuvi panicked as he saw his grandma crying. He never wanted to hurt her like this. That was when Aadesh, Divya and Rishi came downstairs to have dinner and instantly saw the tension between Yuvraj and Meenal.

"Are you alright maa?" Aadesh rushed to his mother's side as he saw her wiping her tears. His mother was very fragile at her age and small things like crying or being out in the cold tend to give her a headache. Meenal slightly pushed him away and stood up.

"I'm not hungry, you guys go ahead and have dinner. I'm going to sleep for a while." With that she turned to head towards her room. Yuvi clutched his head in frustration, he hated that his grandma was skipping dinner and risking her health, all because of his damned marriage.

"What happened here?" Divya asked, looking at Meenal's retreating figure in concern. She made a mental note to check on her after some time.

"Like you all don't know." Yuvi too didn't bother staying for dinner and walked out of there to calm himself down.

"This matter is escalating beyond expectations." Aadesh said as they all made their way towards the dining room.

After a few hours around midnight, Yuvi came back and was heading towards his room to sleep his headache off when he saw that his parents were sitting out on the porch. He silently made his way towards them to hear what they were talking about. "Maa ki tabiyat theek nahi hai Aadi. Unhone dawai lene se bhi mana kar diya, mujhe unki bohot chinta ho rahi hai." (𝑴𝒂𝒂 𝒊𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝑨𝒂𝒅𝒊. 𝑺𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒓𝒆𝒇𝒖𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒎𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔, 𝑰'𝒎 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒉𝒆𝒓.) Divya sighed feeling helpless.

"Chinta to mujhe bhi hai par ab kya kar sakte hain, Yuvi ko force bhi to nahi kar sakte na hum." (𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝑰 𝒂𝒎 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒅, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒘𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒅𝒐? 𝑾𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏'𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒄𝒆 𝒀𝒖𝒗𝒊 𝒆𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓.) Yuvi furrowed his eyebrows in concern. If something happened to his grandma because of his stubbornness then he wouldn't be able to forgive himself. He had promised his grandpa in his last moments that he would take good care of his grandma and the whole family. He can't neglect his duties now. 'Why did I have to be the first born?' he thought as he tiredly made his way towards his room.

Next day : Dinner time

Everyone sat at the table to have dinner. Yuvraj noticed his grandma looking far more fragile and he decided to just do as she says for her health's sake.

"I will do it." Silence descended on the table as Yuvi said those four words. Meenal looked up at him, refusing to say anything, she didn't dare hope he meant what she thought he did. "I will marry Tanisha." Everybody's eyes widened in surprise wondering what changed in a few hours to make him agree to this so easily? Meenal gave him a huge smile, ecstatic that her darling grandson finally decided to agree to it.

"Sachchi?" (𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚?) Meenal asked, and Yuvi took a breath of relief and nodded as he saw his grandma finally showed some emotion.

"Haan dadi. But yaad rakhiye ye mera nahi aapka faisla hai." (𝒀𝒆𝒔 𝑮𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒎𝒂. 𝑩𝒖𝒕 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒕'𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒆.) Meenal got up from her seat and made her way towards Yuvi, kissing him on his forehead.

"Hume aap par pura bharosa hai Yuvi, aap kabhi uska dil nahi dukhaenge. Hum bata nahi sakte hum kitne khush hain, hum abhi jaake Sumitra ko ye khabar dete hain." (𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒀𝒖𝒗𝒊, 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒌 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕. 𝑰 𝒄𝒂𝒏'𝒕 𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 𝑰 𝒂𝒎. 𝑰'𝒍𝒍 𝒈𝒐 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒏𝒆𝒘𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝑺𝒖𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒓𝒂 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒚.) Meenal literally walked out of there with a bounce in her steps.

"Dadi dawai khana mat bhulna." (𝑮𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒎𝒂, 𝒅𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒎𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔.) Yuvi reminded her as he looked at his grandma in concern.

"You will love her Yuvi, she's the sweetest person ever." Divya said trying to make her son understand that he made the right decision.

"We'll see." Now that his grandma was gone, he didn't bother hiding his real expressions anymore.

"What made you agree to it all of a sudden?" Aadesh asked as he wondered how a person who was hell bent on not getting married suddenly agreed to do it.

"This is what you all wanted right? Then why are you questioning me now?" Yuvi was already very irritated, he didn't want his dad to pester him as well.

"I just hope Taani doesn't have to pay the price for your decision." Yuvi gritted his teeth at his father's remark. He got angry that instead of thinking about his own son he was still concerned about that god forsaken girl.

"She can say no if she doesn't want to marry me, I don't care." After all she was the cause of all of this happening. If she decides to marry him, then he'll show the princess just how wrong of a decision she made, he'll make her regret this decision till her last breath. With that thought, he got up from the dining table and walked out of there, already planning on throwing himself in his work to not think about the impending wedding. Rishi hastily got up to follow his brother telling his parents not to worry about Yuvi and that he will take care of him.

"I don't have a good feeling about this Aadi. Maybe we should talk to maa about not going forward with this." Divya said in concern. She too was worried that Taani will have to suffer because of Yuvi's decision and Meenal's stubbornness.

"She wouldn't listen, now that Yuvi himself has agreed to it. She's under the impression that he will fall in love with Taani once he gets married and spends some time with her." Aadesh rubbed at his forehead in tiredness, not knowing what to do.

Mittal's residence :

After having dinner Taani didn't feel like going back to her room and sat in the drawing room instead. Her grandma sat in front of her, reading a newspaper. All of a sudden she got a call from Meenal.

"Hello Meenal"

"Sumu, shaadi ki taiyariyan shuru kar de, Yuvi ne haan keh diya!" (𝑺𝒖𝒎𝒖, 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒆𝒅𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈, 𝒀𝒖𝒗𝒊 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒂𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒅!) Meenal exclaimed happily, making Sumitra shriek in excitement as well. Taani looked at her in a slight state of panic.

"Amma kya hua hai?" (𝑨𝒎𝒎𝒂 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒅?) Taani asked in alarm.

"Wo khush to hai na? Uski marzi se hi kaha na usne?" (𝑯𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒊𝒕? 𝑯𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒚𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒏 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕?) Sumitra asked and Meenal hesitated to answer this but decided to twist the truth just a bit.

"Khush kyu nahi hoga? Aur Taani ko kon mana kar sakta hai bhala?" (𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒘𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚? 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒔𝒂𝒚 𝒏𝒐 𝒕𝒐 𝑻𝒂𝒂𝒏𝒊?)

"Fir to achcha hai, chalo mai baad mai baat karti hu." (𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕'𝒔 𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏, 𝑰'𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌 𝒕𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓.) Taani sat in her seat quietly, albeit a bit impatiently. As soon as Sumitra hung up the call she asked her what had happened? Sumitra looked at her with so much excitement and a huge smile on her face.

"Oh Taani! Mai kitni khush hu mai bata nahi sakti!" (𝑶𝒉 𝑻𝒂𝒂𝒏𝒊! 𝑰'𝒎 𝒔𝒐 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚 𝑰 𝒄𝒂𝒏'𝒕 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝒚𝒐𝒖!) Sumitra got up in a hurry to run towards Taani to give her a hug but felt light headed and suddenly black spots danced in front of her eyes and she blacked out. Taani's eyes widened as Sumitra fainted, she hurriedly ran towards her to catch her falling body in time to lessen the impact but couldn't hold her well and eventually laid her down on the floor gently.

"Papa! Papa! Bhaiya! Jaldi aao, dekho na Amma ko kya ho gaya hai! Uth hi nahi rahi hain." (𝑫𝒂𝒅! 𝑫𝒂𝒅! 𝑩𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓! 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒇𝒂𝒔𝒕, 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝑮𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒎𝒂, 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒖𝒑.) Taani started shouting for everyone like crazy and couldn't stop her tears from falling either. She had never seen her grandma in such a condition before.

Everyone rushed towards the drawing room as they heard Taani's voice. "Amma!" Avi shouted and bent to support her neck and cautiously picked her up and laid her down on the sofa. "Ramu kaka paani dijiye!" (𝑹𝒂𝒎𝒖 𝒌𝒂𝒌𝒂 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒎𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓!) Ramu kaka passed a glass of water to him and Avi sprinkled some on Sumitra's face.

"Maa! Kya hua maa ko?" (𝑴𝒂𝒂! 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒂?) Ranveer and Siya asked in concern just as Rajveer and Vanika rushed in as well. "Rajveer Dr. Sinha ko call karo!" (𝑹𝒂𝒋𝒗𝒆𝒆𝒓, 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝑫𝒓. 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒉𝒂)

"Pata nahi papa, Meenal aunty ka call aya tha unhe aur pata nahi unhone esa kya kaha, Amma itni khush ho gayi ki humare paas aane ke liye aage badi aur behosh ho gayi." (𝑰 𝒅𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒅𝒂𝒅, 𝑴𝒆𝒆𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒂𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒚 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒎𝒂 𝒈𝒐𝒕 𝒔𝒐 𝒆𝒙𝒄𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒘𝒂𝒍𝒌 𝒖𝒑 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒇𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅.) Siya and Ranveer looked at each other in alarm. They knew there could only be one possible reason for her happiness. It meant that Yuvraj had agreed to the marriage. Listening to this, Siya burst into tears, she couldn't stop it even when she tried, not even when Ranveer consoled her, and tried to pacify her while being as vague as he could.

"Maa, chup ho jao Amma theek ho jaengi. Dr. Sinha a rahe hain na." (𝑴𝒐𝒎, 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒎 𝒅𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒎𝒂 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕, 𝑫𝒓. 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒉𝒂 𝒊𝒔 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒈.) Taani got up to hug her mother and she started crying even more as she hugged her daughter to herself.

"Didi, chup ho jaiye itna roengi to sir dard ho jaega bas kariye ab." (𝑺𝒊𝒔, 𝒑𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒎 𝒅𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒐𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒍𝒍 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒂 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒆.) Vanika said coming forward to console her as well and gave her a glass of water.

After a while, she stopped crying, hiccuping once in a while. Dr. Sinha came and checked Sumitra. "There's no need to worry, her heartbeat had picked up a lot in her excitement and she couldn't bear it and fainted. Just see to it that you don't upset her in any way or give her any kind of tension. Her heart is not strong enough to take it and the next time she might end up having a heart attack. Which is not good at her age. Try to make her rest as much as she can and make sure that she doesn't make any sudden movements" Dr. Sinha said and gave a prescription of medicines and ordered everyone to check that she takes all her medicine regularly on time. Rajveer then walked him out.

Avi gently picked up his grandma once again and walked towards her room to make her sleep comfortably on her own bed.

"Esi kya baat hogi jo Amma itni khush ho gayi?" (𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒃𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒘𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒅𝒆 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒐 𝒆𝒙𝒄𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒅?) Dhriti asked as she cradled a sleeping Kiara in her arms. Hearing this, Siya who had finally calmed down a bit started to silently cry once again.

"Hey bhagwan Siya shaant ho jao ab!" (𝑶𝒉 𝑮𝒐𝒅 𝑺𝒊𝒚𝒂 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒎 𝒅𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒏𝒐𝒘.) Ranveer said as he sat beside her to wipe her tears and give her a hug. Siya clutched his shirt and started sobbing once again. "Shh Siya shaant, tum apni tabiyat kharab kar logi ese." (𝑺𝒉𝒉 𝑺𝒊𝒚𝒂 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒎 𝒅𝒐𝒘𝒏, 𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒍𝒍 𝒓𝒖𝒊𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔.) Ranveer said as he caressed her head gently.

"Kya koi baat hui hai bhaiya, jo aap dono kisko bata nahi rahe hain?" (𝑯𝒂𝒔 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒃𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓, 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒃𝒐𝒕𝒉 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒖𝒔?) Rajveer asked as he too sat in a sofa in front of them. Everyone else took a seat as well. Seeing that Ranveer was hesitating to speak, it became quite clear that there was indeed something that they were hiding from everyone else.

"Bhaiya kya baat hai, sab theek to hai na?" (𝑩𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓, 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒕? 𝑰𝒔 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒍𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕?) Rajveer asked in concern. No one spoke for quite some time. Siya looked up at Ranveer and nodded her head, signalling that they should now tell everyone about the proposal.

"Maa ne Taani ka rishta pakka kar diya hai." (𝑴𝒂𝒂 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒇𝒊𝒙𝒆𝒅 𝑻𝒂𝒂𝒏𝒊'𝒔 𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒈𝒆.) As soon as he finished speaking all hell broke loose.

"Kya? Rishta pakka kar diya? Kiske saath aur kisse puch kar?" (𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕? 𝑭𝒊𝒙𝒆𝒅 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒈𝒆? 𝑾𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒘𝒉𝒐𝒎 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒘𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏?) Avi shouted as he made his way back to the drawing room. Dhriti placed a sleeping Kiara on the couch and rushed towards Avi to calm him down, all the while Taani sat there silently with wide eyes, still processing what her father had just said.

"Aadesh Singhania ke bade bete Yuvraj ke saath." (𝑾𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒍𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝑨𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒉 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒂, 𝒀𝒖𝒗𝒓𝒂𝒋.) Siya whose voice had turned hoarse said with a little difficulty.

"Aadesh Singhania of Singhania enterprises?" Rajveer asked vaguely recalling meeting Aadesh in a conference a few months ago. Ranveer just nodded his head.

"No way papa, esa kuch nahi ho raha hai." (𝑵𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈.) Avi came and cradled his crying sister in his arms who was yet to utter a word. "Tu tension mat le, hum esa kuch nahi hone denge." (𝑫𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒚, 𝒘𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒍𝒆𝒕 𝒊𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒏.) He said as he caressed her head.

But how could Taani believe it? She still remembered how just a few minutes ago her grandma was bouncing and shrieking in excitement and how could they forget what the doctor just said? They were not allowed to stress her in any way. And this would definitely upset her. They couldn't risk her health like that. When she looked up at her father and saw the same helplessness on his face, she knew her decision had already been made. She would never jeopardize her grandma's health even if she had to forgo her own happiness.

Her whole world changed, all in a few minutes. And she couldn't do anything to help it. 'Why did it have to be Yuvraj Singhania of all the other people in the world!?' She thought as she got up without a word and walked towards her room. Her family called out to her in concern but she paid no attention, she just wanted to get some sleep and wake up from this horrible nightmare.
