Chapter 2

Singhanias went back home and settled in their drawing room after informing the househelp to prepare dinner. Meenal specifically told them to prepare everything of Yuvraj's choice. Now all three of them were sitting in an awkward silence where Aadesh was pretending to read the newspaper, Divya was looking back and forth between Meenal and Aadi, thinking about how to best approach the topic of Yuvi and Taani's marriage.

"So... Mittal family is really nice" Divya said hoping to break the tension. But to her dismay Aadesh just hummed acknowledging that he heard her, while Meenal just nodded her head without a word, she knew what Divya was trying to do but she acted aloof as if she didn't know, not willing to approach the topic too early.

"Especially Taani, mera matlab hai ki wo kitni sundar aur susheel hai. Itne bade ghar ki beti hone ke baad bhi usme bilkul bhi ghamand nahi hai. Aap logon ne dekha wo ghar ke caretakers se bhi kitne achche se baat kar rahi thi. Warna aaj kal to bachche apne maa baap ke paison par hi itna ghamand karte hain ki unki parwarish ka kya hi kehna..." (𝑰 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝒔𝒉𝒆'𝒔 𝒔𝒐 𝒃𝒆𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒇𝒖𝒍 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒖𝒎𝒃𝒍𝒆. Divya finished speaking but neither of them reacted to it, in fact Aadesh blindly reached for the glass of water placed in front of him and slid it towards Divya.

"Pani pi lo, gala sookh gaya hoga bolte bolte." (𝑯𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓, 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒂𝒕 𝒎𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒃𝒆 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒐 𝒎𝒖𝒄𝒉.) Aadesh said tauntingly. Divya narrowed her eyes at him but picked up the glass nonetheless since she was actually pretty thirsty. She looked at Meenal once again while drinking the water and wondered why her mother-in-law was not speaking up about it, surely she loved Taani as well. Aadesh looked at his mother and wondered the same thing and decided to test the waters himself.

"Haan wese ye bhi to ho sakta hai ki mehmaano ke samne thoda dikhava kar rahi ho, akhir hum jaante hi kitna hain us parivaar ko abhi." (𝒀𝒆𝒂𝒉 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒊𝒕'𝒔 𝒂𝒍𝒔𝒐 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒔𝒉𝒆'𝒔 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒔. 𝑨𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒎𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒅𝒐 𝒘𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒘?) Aadesh intentionally said negatively about the family, so that he can see if his mother is going to defend them or not.

"Sumitra meri school ki saheli hai, mai usko kai saalon se janti hu. Un logon ko tumhare saamne dikhawa karne ki koi zarurat nahi hai aur Taani bitiya jesi aaj thi wesi hi hai, sabse pyari hai wo." (𝑺𝒖𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒓𝒂 𝒊𝒔 𝒎𝒚 𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒔𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒔, 𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔. 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒅𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒈𝒖𝒚𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑻𝒂𝒂𝒏𝒊 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒊𝒔 𝒂𝒔 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚, 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒂𝒍𝒍.) As expected Meenal instantly defended her friend making Aadesh smile in triumph. He shared a look with Divya, who had a huge smile on her face.

"Achcha to ese ghar mai rishta jodne se aapko koi aapatti to nahi hogi na maa?" (𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒃𝒍𝒆𝒎𝒔, 𝒊𝒇 𝒘𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒎 𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎, 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒂?) asked Divya with just a bit of hesitation.

"Mujhe kyu koi dikkat hogi bhala?" (𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒖𝒆𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒊𝒕?) Meenal said trying to act nonchalant but on the inside she was jumping in excitement, knowing she wanted this exact thing to happen.

"Bas bhi karo apna natak maa, hume pata hai aap hume kyu lekar gaye the wahan!" (𝑱𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒑 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒅𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒂 𝒎𝒂𝒂, 𝒘𝒆 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒘𝒉𝒚 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒖𝒔 𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆.) Aadesh said, finally folding the newspaper and keeping it on the table while Divya looked at him in confusion. 'This woman still can't understand my mother's tricks.' He thought while mentally shaking his head in pity at his wife's innocence.

Meenal looked at him for a moment before shrugging her shoulders in a 'so what?' reaction.

"Aapko lagta hai apne Yuvi ke liye Taani sahi rahegi?" (𝑫𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝑻𝒂𝒂𝒏𝒊 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒇𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒀𝒖𝒗𝒊?) Aadesh asked his mother. Although he knew that's what his mother wanted, he still would like to clear everything with them before approaching Yuvi with this matter.

"Mujhe to lagta hai, apne Yuvi ke liye usse achchi koi aur ladki ho hi nahi sakti." (𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒊𝒔, 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒃𝒆 𝒏𝒐 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒈𝒊𝒓𝒍 𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒖𝒊𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒀𝒖𝒗𝒊.) Meenal said, indirectly saying that there's no other way she's going to have it.

"Bilkul sahi lagta hai maa aapko, mujhe bhi yahi lagta hai. Wo itni pyari hai, humare Yuvi ko humesha khush rakhegi." (𝒀𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒃𝒔𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒂, 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝑰 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒔𝒐. 𝑺𝒉𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒐 𝒔𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒕, 𝒔𝒉𝒆'𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒌𝒆𝒆𝒑 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒀𝒖𝒗𝒊 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒚.) Said Divya with a huge smile on her face. She already loves Taani so much that she can't help but picture her as Yuvi's wife and their daughter-in-law.

"To intzaar kis baat ka hai? Yuvi se baat karte hain fir agle hafte tak bhej dete hain rishta apan." (𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏? 𝑾𝒆'𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌 𝒕𝒐 𝒀𝒖𝒗𝒊 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒂𝒍 𝒃𝒚 𝒏𝒆𝒙𝒕 𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒌.) Decided Aadesh.

"Agar baat itni hi asaan hoti to mai hafton se intzaar kyu kar rahi hoti?" (𝑰𝒇 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒘𝒉𝒚 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝑰'𝒗𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒘𝒂𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒌𝒔?) Dadi replied. She knows nothing is easy when it comes to Yuvi. He is as stubborn as they get and trying to make him agree to marry someone when he's just 27 and at the peak of his success is not easy, not easy at all.

"Tumhe kya lagta hai hum Yuvi se puchhenge aur wo haan kar dega? Arey pura ghar sir pe utha lega wo!" (𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒘𝒆'𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒔𝒌 𝒀𝒖𝒗𝒊 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒆'𝒍𝒍 𝒔𝒂𝒚 𝒚𝒆𝒔 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕? 𝑶𝒉 𝒉𝒆'𝒍𝒍 𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒔𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒆 𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒅!) No, no their Yuvi will not say yes, he'll throw the biggest tantrum ever. It would take a lot of planning and plotting to get him to agree.

"Bohot mashakkat karni hongi is shaadi ke liye." (𝑾𝒆'𝒍𝒍 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒐 𝒂 𝒍𝒐𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒈𝒆.) Divya said a bit dejectedly. She wanted to bring Taani here as soon as possible but even she knew it was not going to be easy.

"Udaas mat ho bahu, hum sab milke mana lenge Yuvi ko, aakhir mai bhi to uski Dadi hu ese kese mana kar dega meri baat wo?" (𝑫𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒃𝒆 𝒖𝒑𝒔𝒆𝒕 𝑫𝒊𝒗𝒚𝒂, 𝒘𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒀𝒖𝒗𝒊, 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝑰'𝒎 𝒂𝒍𝒔𝒐 𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝑮𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒎𝒂 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒇𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒎𝒆?) Said Dadi patting Divya's knee affectionately, giving her a bit more hope.

Just then Yuvi entered with Rishiraj. Busy texting on his mobile, he didn't notice the vary expressions of his family but Rishi did and he instantly knew that their family is going to create a blunder pretty soon.

Yuvi came and saw everyone gathered in the drawing room. He went and touched his Dadi's feet and then sat beside her, releasing a tired sigh. Rishi also touched her feet and moved to sit beside his mother. He then decided to just keep his head on his mother's lap and lay down instead.

"Arey mere bachche kitne thake thake lag rahe ho tum dono." (𝑶𝒉 𝒎𝒚 𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒏, 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒃𝒐𝒕𝒉 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈.) Divya said while caressing his head lovingly.

"Dono to bolo hi mat maa, kuch kaam nahi karta hai ye dheet, pure din bas reception pe jaake khada ho jaega Ruby se baat karne." (𝑫𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒔𝒂𝒚 𝒃𝒐𝒕𝒉 𝒎𝒂𝒂, 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒑𝒊𝒅 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔𝒏'𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒍𝒍, 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒔 𝒏𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌 𝒕𝒐 𝑹𝒖𝒃𝒚 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈.) Yuvi said angrily, narrowing his eyes at him.

'If they gave me any more of a headache then I will remove both of them from the company. I have enough to worry about already.' Yuvi thought

"Kyu Rishi? Bhai sach bol raha hai?" (𝑹𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒊? 𝑰𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒃𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒕𝒉?) Divya asked playfully slapping him on the cheeks.

"Sab jalte hain meri khushiyon se maa."  (𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒋𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒚 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒎𝒂𝒂.) Rishi murmured hiding his face in her lap.

"Ese to tumne seekh liya beta sab. Puri zindagi reception pe baith kar data entry karna bas." (𝑨𝒔 𝒊𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔. 𝑱𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒔𝒊𝒕 𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒇𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒂 𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒘𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒆 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆.) Yuvi taunted him but already knowing it won't affect Rishi at all. In all honesty, he was not really angry at him, not yet at least. Rishi had just started working and he was still getting habitual to having responsibilities bigger than submitting an assignment and preparing for an exam. He was sure he would learn it all in time.

"Achcha chalo ye sab baat khatam karo, chalo kaafi samay ho gaya hai, khana khate hain ab." (𝑶𝒌𝒂𝒚 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒐𝒑𝒊𝒄 𝒏𝒐𝒘, 𝒊𝒕'𝒔 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒓, 𝒍𝒆𝒕'𝒔 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒈𝒐.) Dadi said patting Yuvi's knee.

They all sat down at the dinner table and Meenal ordered the servants to serve the dinner. As Rishi saw everything that was prepared, was his brother's favourite, he became sure that his suspicion was indeed right, something's fishy. His family would not go to such lengths unless they wanted something from him.

He shrugged his shoulders thinking 'Mujhe kya? Mai to mattar paneer pe concentrate karunga.' (𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒐 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒎𝒆? 𝑰'𝒍𝒍 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒐𝒏 𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒂𝒓 𝒑𝒂𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒓.)

"Arey waah mattar paneer! Tandoori roti aur kheer bhi? Aaj kuch khaas hai kya?" (𝑶𝒉 𝒘𝒐𝒘 𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒂𝒓 𝒑𝒂𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒓, 𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒐𝒐𝒓𝒊 𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒊 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒌𝒉𝒆𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒔 𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒍? 𝑰𝒔 𝒊𝒕 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝒕𝒐𝒅𝒂𝒚?) Yuvraj exclaimed with happiness but froze all of a sudden, he also figured out the same thing which Rishi did a moment ago. "Either something's wrong or you guys want something from me." Yuvraj guessed, and seeing their guilty expressions it was confirmed that he was right.

"Kesi baat kar raha hai beta, tujhe matter paneer pasand hai na bas isliye bana hai aur kya wajah ho sakti hai?" (𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕? 𝑰𝒕'𝒔 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒄𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒆𝒅 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒊𝒕, 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒆𝒍𝒔𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒃𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒐𝒏?) Divya said sweetly.

"Maa there is something for sure, but please don't start it until after dinner I really don't want to miss it, it's my favourite and I have a feeling whatever you guys want to talk about is going to ruin my appetite." Divya looked at her maa in worry to which she just gestured her to keep calm and start eating.

"Tumhara kaam kesa chal raha hai?" (𝑯𝒐𝒘'𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝒈𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈?) Aadesh asked Yuvi while munching on tandoori roti.

"Badhiya chal raha hai papa, ek important deal sign ho jaye fir itna busy nahi rahunga kuch din." (𝑰𝒕'𝒔 𝒈𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒚 𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝒅𝒂𝒅. 𝑰 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒊𝒈𝒏 𝒂𝒏 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒅𝒆𝒂𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑰 𝒘𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒃𝒆 𝒔𝒐 𝒃𝒖𝒔𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒂 𝒇𝒆𝒘 𝒅𝒂𝒚𝒔.) Aadesh nodded his head

"Kuch help lage meri to batana." (𝑫𝒐 𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝒎𝒆 𝒊𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒎𝒚 𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒑.)

"Ji papa. Aap chinta mat karo, it's almost done." (𝒀𝒆𝒔 𝒅𝒂𝒅. 𝑫𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉, 𝒊𝒕'𝒔 𝒂𝒍𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒅𝒐𝒏𝒆.) Aadesh was proud of his son and all that he had achieved after he retired. Yuvi used to help him out since childhood, whenever there will be free time he'll come to him and say 'give me something to do as well dad, I want to help you.' Aadesh never pressured him into anything, he always believed in letting them choose their own path and destiny but to his luck learning about the business and taking over it was all Yuvi ever cared about.

"Aur koi ladki wadki nahi dekhi tune apne liye?" (𝑺𝒐... 𝒅𝒊𝒅𝒏'𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒂 𝒈𝒊𝒓𝒍 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇?) Asked dadi out of nowhere.

"Kesi baatein kar rahe ho dadi, yahi kaam bacha hai kya mere paas ab?" (𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝑮𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒎𝒂, 𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒕 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒍𝒆𝒇𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒐 𝒏𝒐𝒘?) Yuvi scoffed at the idea of getting married anytime soon, he had no plans to do so.

"Arey kesi baat kya? 27 ka ho gaya hai ab nahi dekhenge to kab dekhenge ladki hum?" (𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕? 𝒀𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 27 𝒂𝒍𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚, 𝒊𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒂 𝒈𝒊𝒓𝒍 𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒚𝒐𝒖?) Dadi replied.

"Aap meri tension mat lo dadi mai kar lunga shaadi jab karni hogi mujhe. Abhi mera koi plan nahi hai shaadi ka. Aur relationship ke liye time nahi hai mere paas." (𝑫𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒚 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒎𝒆 𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒎𝒂 𝑰'𝒍𝒍 𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒚 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐. 𝑰 𝒅𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒔𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒔 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒏𝒆𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒅𝒐 𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑𝒔.) Yuvi stubbornly stuck to his decision of not marrying anyone making Meenal upset.

"Time nikalega to niklega na, aur jab karni hogi matlab? Ab tujhe aur 10 saal tak shaadi nahi karni hui to kya teri shaadi nahi karenge hum? (𝒀𝒐𝒖'𝒍𝒍 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝒃𝒚 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐? 𝑰𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒅 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒙𝒕 10 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔, 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒘𝒆 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒅?) Dadi said a bit angrily.

"Hopefully" murmured Yuvi, making dadi narrow her eyes at him.

"Aakhir meri bhi to umar ho rahi hai, marne se pehle ek baar apne parpota ya parpoti ka muhh to dekh lu kam se kam, ki wo bhi naseeb nahi hoga mujhe?" (𝑰'𝒎 𝒂𝒍𝒔𝒐 𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒍𝒅, 𝒃𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒅𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑰 𝒂𝒕 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒚 𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒓 𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒅𝒂𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒐𝒓 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝑰 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒆𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓?) Meenal knew at this point she was just emotionally blackmailing him but she still didn't back down. If her grandson is stubborn then she is also his grandma (quite literally!)

"Maa shubh shubh boliye." (𝑴𝒐𝒎 𝒑𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒂𝒌 𝒐𝒇 𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔.) Aadesh said in concern. Although he knew that his mother was just being a bit dramatic for Yuvi's sake, he still didn't like her talking about herself like that. He would never let anything happen to his mother if he could help it.

"Dadi aap ese kyu bol rahi hain? Aap ko mai kuch hone nahi dunga. Aur itni bhi kya jaldi hai shaadi ki? Abhi nahi to kuch saalon mai to ho hi jaegi. Aur bohot jaldi hai to Rishi ki kara do, wese bhi ise kuch kaam nahi hai." (𝑮𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒎𝒂, 𝒘𝒉𝒚 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒂𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕? 𝑰 𝒘𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒍𝒆𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖. 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕'𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒓𝒚? Yuvi said throwing Rishi under the bus, just to get himself out of it.

"Kuch kaam nahi hai to kya mujhe hi bali ka bakra bana doge ab? Hadd hai yrr. Aur wese bhi abhi to mujhe aapki shaadi mai naachna hai, apni bhabhi ke saath time spend karna hai, meri hi wife aa gayi tab thodi na mai ye sab kar paunga." "Tu meri wife ke saath kyu time spend karega?"  (𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒎𝒚 𝒘𝒊𝒇𝒆?) Yuvi could not hide the jealousy he felt. So what if he's not married? He won't let anyone spend time with his wife more than himself when he does.

"Woah aap to shaadi ke pehle hi itne possessive ho rahe ho huhh? Aur kyu nahi spend karunga mai time? Bhabhi hongi wo meri, haq hai ye to mera." (𝑾𝒐𝒂𝒉 𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒅 𝒉𝒖𝒉𝒉? 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒉𝒚 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅𝒏'𝒕 𝑰 𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆? 𝑺𝒉𝒆'𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒎𝒚 𝒔𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓-𝒊𝒏-𝒍𝒂𝒘, 𝒊𝒕'𝒔 𝒎𝒚 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕.) Rishi knew which buttons to push to make his brother an angry bird and he was so enjoying doing it too.

"Aas paas bhi bhatke na to muhh tod dunga tumhara!" (𝑰'𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒌 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒎𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉, 𝑰𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒆𝒓.) Yuvi shouted angrily almost feeling like hurting his head on the table.

As they continued their silly banter, their family members were looking at both of them repeatedly.

'One doesn't want to marry but is getting possessive of his non existent wife and the other is demanding to spend time with his non existent sister-in-law. Are they even my kids!?' Thought Aadesh as he shook his head in pity looking at their senseless arguing.

"Achcha shaant!" (𝑶𝒌𝒂𝒚 𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒆𝒕!) Meenal shouted loudly while banging one hand on the table, effectively making both of them quiet. "Ye kya bachcho ki tarah lade ja rahe ho tum dono?" (𝑾𝒉𝒚 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒃𝒐𝒕𝒉 𝒂𝒓𝒈𝒖𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒌𝒊𝒅𝒔?)

"To dekhiye na dadi ye ese kese mujhe bhabhi ke saath time spend karne se mana kar sakte hain?"  (𝑺𝒆𝒆 𝑮𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒎𝒂, 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒐𝒘 𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒎𝒚 𝒔𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓-𝒊𝒏-𝒍𝒂𝒘?) Whined Rishi, pouting like a child.

"Oh mahashay! Kon si bhabhi? Kiski bhabhi?" (𝑶𝒉 𝑴𝒓.! 𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒔𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓-𝒊𝒏-𝒍𝒂𝒘? 𝑾𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒔𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓-𝒊𝒏-𝒍𝒂𝒘?) Divya asked raising an eyebrow at him.

"Haan to jab hogi tab ki tab se dekhi jaegi abhi drama karne ki koi zarurat nahi hai." (𝒀𝒆𝒂𝒉 𝒔𝒐 𝒘𝒆'𝒍𝒍 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒆, 𝒏𝒐 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒐 𝒅𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒂 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒘.)

"But-" He went to argue yet again when his mother narrowed her eyes at him, daring him to continue, he cleverly shut his mouth and resumed eating.

"Humne tere liye ladki dekh li hai." (𝑾𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚 𝒔𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒂 𝒈𝒊𝒓𝒍 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖.) Dadi said making Yuvi choke on his food, although Rishi was smiling like a fool as if it's him they're talking about, he still bent a little to pat Yuvi on his back. "Aur hum chahte hain ki tu mana karne ke pehle ek baar achche se soch le." (𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝑰 𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒊𝒕 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒏𝒐.)

'Way to rip the bandaid maa!' Divya thought thinking there is no way Yuvi is going to say yes now.

"Soch liya, nahi karni." (𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕, 𝑰 𝒅𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒚.) Yuvi replied, still trying to get his breath under control.

"Bola hai to time lo aur aaram se jawab do. Humne abhi tumhare phone pe uski photo WhatsApp ki hai, ek baar dekh lo. Dadi said, forwarding Taani's photo to Yuvi.

'Tanisha... Sounds like a pretty name. I wonder how she looks.' Thought Yuvi as he picked up his mobile to check her photo, curious about her looks. All the while saying "Mera jawab to nahi badlega par aapke khatir dekh lete hain." (𝑰 𝒘𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆 𝒎𝒚 𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝑰'𝒍𝒍 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒊𝒕 𝒂 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖.)

"Rehne to do bhai, sab drama hai mai janta hu mann mai laddoo foot rahe hain unko dekhne ke liye." (𝑶𝒉 𝒑𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒑 𝒊𝒕 𝒃𝒓𝒐, 𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒅𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒅𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒂, 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒚𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒃𝒖𝒃𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒋𝒐𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌 𝒂𝒕 𝒉𝒆𝒓.) Rishi said playfully bumping his shoulder with Yuvi's, which made him glare at Rishi. He raised his hands in surrender and gestured towards the mobile signalling him to continue with his task.

He opened his WhatsApp to take a look at the photo and froze. She was so beautiful and mesmerizing to look at. However much you look, it just won't be enough.

"She's so beautiful dadi!" Rishi said as he looked at her over Yuvi's shoulder. "Aap to karado meri shaadi" (𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒎𝒆 𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒆𝒓, 𝑰 𝒅𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒅.) Yuvi instantly felt a surge of anger as he heard Rishi but decided to ignore it.

"Kaam karle apna, ghus mat mere mobile mai." (𝑫𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒚 𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒎𝒚 𝒑𝒉𝒐𝒏𝒆.) Said Yuvi, moving his mobile away from his prying eyes.

She is indeed very pretty and she looks so soft and innocent but he can see she was pampered throughout her life and she likely will be a snob, spoiled rich kid. All the girls who literally throw themselves on him come from nice and rich families as well but they have never heard the word 'no' in their life and throw the biggest tantrums when they do. They annoy him to death with the way they talk and the way they take benefit of his money. 'I don't want to take care of a big spoilt baby. I'm better off alone.' Thought Yuvi finally closing his mobile and keeping it on the table.

He looked up and saw that everyone was looking at him while he was lost in her photo, his ears turned slightly pink in embarrassment. He cleared his throat once to get a hold of his emotions. "Hum abhi shadi nahi karna chahte hain dadi." (𝑰 𝒅𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒅 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝑮𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒎𝒂.) To say the least, Meenal was disappointed to hear that. She had thought once he looked at her photo, he would be mesmerized by her just as she was but maybe his grandson was not ready after all.

"Hum humari saheli ko zabaan de chuke hain Yuvi. Ab humari izzat aapke haath mai hai. Aapko jesa theek lage wesa kariye aap." (𝑰'𝒗𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒎𝒚 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒚 𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅. 𝑵𝒐𝒘 𝒎𝒚 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒖𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒔. 𝑫𝒐 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆.) With that, dadi got up from the table and went towards her room.

"Dad she's not being fair! She's practically blackmailing me into it. She knows I won't say no to her." Yuvi wanted to pluck his own hair out in frustration. Where the hell did the idea of marriage even come from?

"I know it's wrong but at least try to get to know her, who knows, maybe you'll end up liking her yourself." Aadesh tried to make him understand but he knew how stubborn his son is, who knows what he would do if he felt cornered by his family.

"I don't want to do any such thing!" With that he walked out of there.

"I knew you guys were up to something. I'll be honest though you still managed to surprise me." Rishi laughed walking out of there as well.

"Do you think we did the right thing?" Divya asked with furrowed eyebrows as she watched her son walk out.

"We all know Taani is the perfect choice for Yuvi." Aadesh said instead.

"Yeah but let's not be selfish now. What if Yuvi becomes the wrong choice for Taani?" That's what scared Divya more now. She wanted Taani as her daughter-in-law but not at the cost of her happiness.

"Only time will tell. I just want the best for both of them."
